Give 5 began by connecting retirees to meaningful volunteer opportunities and has since expanded to engage participants of all ages—building connections, addressing local challenges, and creating lasting impact.

At Give 5, we offer a family of programs designed to connect participants of all ages with meaningful volunteer opportunities that address real community challenges. Our programs are rooted in civic engagement, social connection, and purposeful service, ensuring that every participant has an opportunity to make a lasting impact.

The Give 5 Network of Programs Includes:

Give 5

For Ages 60+ 

The original “civic matchmaking” program for retirees. A multi-day, free program that introduces older adults to a better understanding of their community and connects them to hundreds of volunteer opportunities in their backyard. Customized for each community based on a primary community challenge to be addressed.

Give 5: Young Professionals

For Ages 24–40

A two-day version of the Give 5 program tailored for young professionals, specifically designed to address the primary community challenges in each community.

Give 5: U

For Ages 18–23

A version of the Give 5 program customized for college students. Can be hosted as a forcredit or non-credit program. Customized for each community based on a primary community challenge to be addressed.

Patient Companion Program

For Ages 18–60+

A program offering volunteer “companions” to accompany older adults to medical procedures and healthcare appointments. Volunteers include both traditional volunteers and pre-med/pre-health college students.

Give 5 Academy

For Ages 15–18

A youth-focused version of the Give 5 program designed for high school–aged participants. Each Academy is customized to its community, engaging students in hands-on service projects while building leadership, teamwork, and civic responsibility.

Give 5: Community

For Ages 18–60+

A version of the Give 5 program customized for multi-generational cohorts. Customized for each community based on a primary community challenge to be addressed.

Community Field Trip

For Ages 18–40

A one-day version of the Give 5 program for current employees, where participants learn about their community, visit four nonprofits, and engage in interactive exercises to contextualize the experience. Tailored to address the employer’s preferred community challenge in each community.

Employee Ambassadors Program

For Ages 18–60+

A program that teaches employees about their own employer. Increases pride in and loyalty to their employer, and promotes crossdivision communication and cooperation. Typically implemented by larger employers (e.g., local governments, universities).

Give 5: Take Action

For Ages 18–60+

A one-day, intergenerational workshop focused on a topic of interest to the community.
